Dining

Blue Heron Restaurant

The Blue Heron Restaurant is superbly positioned next to Zeballos River, which is a perfect vantage point for viewing bears and other wildlife that may be feeding and nesting along the banks of the estuary.

Tasty meals at the Blue Heron

The dining room itself is charmingly appointed for style and comfort.

The Blue Heron Restaurant is owned by Dan O'Connnor and his wife, Cristina Lepore, who was once a Vancouver restaurateur. She knows food. And she is very particular about the way it looks and tastes. Fortunately, so are Chef Shawn Gardiner and Chef Roberta. These two aficionados will make sure every meal served in the Blue Heron Restaurant is fresh, scrumptious, and artfully presented.

Specialties of the house feature locally-caught salmon, halibut, tuna, oysters, and clams - all just a tide away. Cristina's Italian heritage comes out in her specialty pasta dishes with freshly grated Parmigiano Reggiano. Shawn's thin crust specialty pizzas are a welcome addition to the menu.

Zeballos River, playground for bears and other wildlife

Dessert and coffee? Try freshly baked cheesecake and fruit pies, accompanied by an espresso or latte. Or sip specialty teas, a shot of Sambuca or glass of Damasco. The Blue Heron Restaurant has a well-stocked full-service bar featuring martinis, liqueurs, Caesars, and an excellent assortment of B.C. wines and ales.

For breakfast, try an omelet or Benny made with wholesome, free-range eggs and a little smoked salmon. Or get your mouth around Roberta's Breakfast in a Bun.

What the heck, indulge yourself, you're on a holiday! Try a little of everything!

Special food requirements

If you're a vegetarian or have other specialized needs, just ask. We have pans exclusively used for non-meat dishes, and we're skilled improvisers. Because everything is made fresh, we can often substitute or eliminate an ingredient or two, if necessary.
